Gossip Bite: Ashanti’s Headed To Broadway & Keyshia Cole Is Back In The Studio

Well I guess if albums don’t sell go to Broadway, Ashanti is set to ease on down the road- the yellow brick road that is. The singer and part time actress has landed the lead role of Dorothy in the Broadway production of The Wiz. Ashanti will have huge shoes to fill as she is following in the footsteps of Diana Ross who made the role famous on the big screen and Stephanie Mills who made the role famous on Broadway. The revival will kick off June 12 at the New York City Center and wrap up on July 5th. Asahnti’s previous acting credits include Coach Carter, Resident Evil Extinction, John Tucker Must Die and Bride & Prejudice.
Though her most recent album was released less than six months ago, R n’ B diva KeyshiaCole is already working on it’s follow up. The singer, who is slated to kick off her own headlining tour next month, is also said to be working on her biopic. Not yet 30, Keyshia feels she has lived a lifetime and is ready to share her story with her fans and the world. Keyshia’s manager released a statement earlier this week not only detailing the singer’s musical and biographical aspirations, but to also let the fans know that Keyshia would continue to support “A Different Me” by releasing two more singles from the album, including “Trust Me” which features Keyshia’s good friend and singer in her own right, Monica.
Look for Keyshia’s next album to be released in December and the biopic is of course still a work in progress.
