“Don’t call it a comeback I been here for years” LL Cool J
Yesterday I got another opportunity to meet with Curtis 50 Cent Jackson; this time around it was very brief. He was in town signing, taking pictures and introducing the world to his new fragrance Power. Thousands of Chicago natives filled our Macy’s on State Street to the max to meet him. I put my bid in to late for an interview with 50, but Interscope sent me passes to the screening of his film Before I Self Destruct.
Power by 50 smells really good, I wasn’t sold at first on the scent because of the description:
The composition starts with accords of lemon leaves, black pepper and artemisia, a heart of dark wood, coriander and nutmeg and base notes full of patchouli, musk and oak moss
But it smells really good and different. I say different because Jay-Z Cologne The Roc smells really good but it mimics another fragrance that I cannot place my finger on. So if you’re looking for a great gift for the men in your life pick up Power by 50.

I arrived at the screening of Before I Self Destruct wondering would I get a chance to listen to his new cd (same title). I was right, I heard all the tracks off of his new album and I have to say 50 Cent is back or as some (like me) people believe~~ he’s never went anywhere. The cd, which Curtis claimed, goes harder than Get Rich or Die Trying is fill with upbeat tracks. My favorite is I’m So Disrespectful, 50 goes in and talks about his former crewmembers. The cd is worth the money alone however 50 included a movie titled Before I Self Destructed, which was written and directed by him.
50 Cent played a basketball player who had enough skills to make it into the NBA; but an injured knee shattered his dreams of making it big. His younger brother a 13-year-old smart guy had a great future ahead of him already getting scouting for the best colleges at a young age. However life turned really sour for them once they lost their mother to senseless street violence. With no other way to survive 50 turns into a contract killer for a big wig played by actor Clifton Powell. But everything that comes with the fast life is not always good for you. Money, cars, karma and falling for a ho puts 50′s new life in a space he may regret…
I give the movie two thumbs up; I love a great story that keeps you engaged. There was never a dull moment in the movie, I laughed, yelled, became mad and got a little tingly when I watched 50 put it down. My highlight was seeing Lloyd Banks as a teacher the whole theater laughed. I can truly say everyone enjoyed the movie and the sex scene is number two on my top three. 1. Dmx In Belly, 2. 50 Cent Before I Self Destruct 3. Tyrese Baby Boy. The movie reminded me of Choices by Three Six Mafia. 50 Cent is giving us our money’s worth this go around~ on top of a great cd, a great movie there is also a special tribute to Jam Master Jay.
Please pick up a copy here of Before I Self Destruct you will not be disappointed 50 Cent is back, in my opinion we can’t call this a comeback because he’s never left.
