MassMedia Chick: Gabourey Sidibe Shakes Off The Hate & Lands TV Role

Gabourey Sidibe  career is really taking off she seems like a sweet and humble girl who wants to do great things. She recently spoke about getting snubbed off Vanity Fair’s now controversial Young Hollywood cover, she says she’s not really phased by it. Here’s what Gabby said when asked at the Oscar nominee luncheon about being featured inside the mag, but not on the cover :

“Was I satisfied? Yeah, well… I mean, I come from a world where I’m not on covers and I’m not in magazines at all. And so I was happy to be in the magazine. At first I thought, ‘Hmm, should I be there? Then I very quickly got over it. I think if I were a part of that shoot I would have felt a little left out anyway. I would have felt a little like… whether or not I should have been there. [It] doesn’t matter, because I wasn’t on it and I’m excited to be mentioned anywhere, and it doesn’t matter to me where I’m not mentioned.”

Also this Smart Chick is well on her way to the top,  it looks like she may be headed to cable after taping a new Showtime pilot.

“I’d like to continue acting for as long as possible, just shot a pilot for a Showtime series, ‘The Big C’… I’m really excited to see what other roles are out there for me.”

“The Big C” also stars Laura Linney, who plays a woman dealing with cancer in a humorous way.
