One of the legendary Kings Of R&B, Ron “Mr. Biggs” Isleywas released from his three year prison sentence for tax evasion charges earlier this month. After appearing on Los Angeles DJ Steve Harvey’s talk show earlier this month, he confirmed that he will be heading in the studio shortly to begin working on material for a new gospel album which was inspired by his prison inmates.
Ronald Isley revealed that this time around the album will feature future and past stars such as Lauryn Hill, T.I. andBurt Bacharach. The album will be his first since his collaborative album with the Isley Brothers back in 2006 forBaby Makin’ Music
While on the radio show, Ronald Isley also gave insight to his life in prison. He served as a mentor for some and also kept busy by performing for the inmates.
“I was talking to young people and crying with them and people that were gonna be in there some years and that part really hurts.They (inmates) looked up to me. I was working at the chapel and I did gospel shows every week, that kept me up.”
Ronald Isley is currently in a halfway house but will return to the stage on May 10 when he performs in Atlantic City,New Jersey.
