Compton, California based Hip-Hop group N.W.A. are about to have their story shared with the world as female producer and director Andrea Berloff is prepping a biopic which will be titled Straight Outta Compton.
Berloff, who is the mastermind behind Oliver Stone’s controversial film, World TradeCenter, received the biopic title from N.W.A.’s 1988 album Straight Outta Compton, which introduced gangster rap and sold over 9 million units.
Andrea Berloff alongside former N.W.A. member Ice Cubeand business partner Matt Alvarez will capture the life of the group members when they were at the prime of their careers. Also a part of the biopic will be Tomika Woods, the widow of N.W.A. member Eazy-E. Eazy- E was the group founder and was also responsible for reuniting the group once they split after he announced that he had AIDS.
Straight Outta Compton will be the first time that N.W.A.members Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, MC Ren and DJ Yellawill have their lives featured together on film. Last year in March minor plans for a biopic were revealed but only announced the producers.
The biopic is set at New Line but hasn’t received a set release date as of now. Eazy-E and Ice Cube’s roles are rumored to be played by their sons while a casting call for the other members will take place this upcoming summer.
