West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg may have just gotten cleared to begin touring throughout the UKfollowing a nearly four year ban, but apparently that invitation did not include the Netherlands.
Snoop was scheduled to perform at a free concert during the Parkpop Festival at The Hague on June 27th but a coalition made up of some of the country’s political leaders requested that the organizers remove him from the list of performers.
“This is all very annoying that the headliner is being removed from the program 10 days before the event,” said a spokeswoman for the organizer, Ducos Producers to Reuters.
According to the Mayor of the Dutch city of Hague, who is a member of the group protesting Snoop’s presence, they don’t want him to come because they want to make sure the atmosphere at the festival remains “open and friendly.”
In other news, Snoop recently linked up with watchmaker, Banneker, Inc. to kick off his program Seniors Who Graduate. Together the two will gift jewelry to graduating seniors from areas where the dropout rates are high. The Gin and Juicerapper started off the campaign last Friday (June 11) at his alma mater, Long Beach Polytechnic High School, where he graduated in 1993.
