Canadian rapper Drake has reportedly donated money to a learning center in Jamaica. The Young Money MC gave $25,000 to the establishment, which is backed by Mavado, a popular Jamaican singer that he collaborated with for the filming for his Find Your Love music video. “I had a great time when I was in Jamaica and the people of Cassava Piece showed me a lot of love. I just wanted to show back some love by helping out with Mavado’s project on the Gullyside,” said Drake while talking to The Weekend Starabout his donation.
“It’s a very positive move and something I am very happy to be a part of. Education is the key to life so to be able to assist in that process is very fulfilling.”
Following Drake’s contribution construction on the building was started, but Mavado’s manager Julian Jones-Griffith explained that more funds will be needed and that Movadohas also added money to the project.
“Obviously it’s going to take more than what Drake gave soMavado has contributed to it and pledges to put more towards it,” she said.
The learning center will include a computer lab and a library, which will be tentatively named the Drake and Mavado Peace Center.
