Drake has canceled the European stops of his Away From Home tour because of his mother’s illness. The Young Money emcee has been able to reschedule concerts in London,Paris and Amsterdam for November 2010. However, even though he told his fans that he will be only postponing all the concerts, many of his appearances were supposed to be at festivals, which means he will not be able to reorganize them.
Drake’s mother suffers from a severe arthritic condition and she will need surgery quicker than the rapper expected, a decision that made him extend his stay in the United States.
“Despite my best hopes, it is apparent that my mother will need surgery earlier than anticipated,” Drake’s Twitter statement reads. “In light of this news, I have made the difficult decision to cancel my European tour in order to support her during her recovery, just as she supported me through the years.”
Lil Wayne’s protege asks for privacy in this very difficult moment and for his fans to say a prayer for his sick mother. He also hopes his fan will understand the reason of his decision.
Drake will restart his tour on July 16 when he will be heading to Canada to perform in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.
