Usher recently opened up about his marriage to Tameka Fosterduring an interview with Peoplemagazine, and according to the singer even though they didn’t last, he has no regrets about their getting together.
“I appreciate the relationship for what it was,” he said. “Even though it didn’t work out, I’m glad we got together. I love her as the mother of my children; we just couldn’t be married.”
In the end, the two just couldn’t agree on anything he says. From parenting style to his hectic schedule, it had become apparent that they were going in separate directions.
“We’re two different people and we have two different goals,” he explained. “It just was never going to work out 100 percent.”
The former couple has put their differences aside though for the sake of their children, he said, adding, “We had to put our issues aside and focus on raising them. There will never be another mother for my sons, and I’ll always be their father.”
Usher released his newest work, an EP titled Versus, last week and he says you can hear the transition from Raymond vs. Raymond where he was going through a lot emotionally to now where things have settled a bit.
“My music is about where I am at the time,” he said. “InRaymond vs. Raymond, I was going through a lot of things, and it came out in my music. My marriage fell apart and I was suddenly a single father. But now, with Versus, I’m singing about being a dating father.”
