D’Angelo Working With Mark Ronson On Upcoming LP

During a recent interview, Mark Ronson revealed that he has been in the studio withD’Angelo to work on the singer’s forthcoming third solo LP. Telling Billboard.com about “going into the studio…to work a bit on [D’Angelo’s] record,” the producer admitted that he was hit with “equal parts intimidation and awe and excitement,” and was even more surprised to find that the R&B singer was a big fan of his.

“I was pretty much floored when D said that the only two records of the past 5 or 6 years that he really listened to a lot were St. Elsewhere by Gnarls Barkley and Back To Black,” said Ronson. “I was like, I cannot believe I made something that this guy listened to over and over again and looked to for inspiration.”

The two also collaborated on one of Ronson’s tracks titledGlass Mountain Trust off of his upcoming project Record Collection and the DJ/producer said that it is “now basically [his] favorite on the record.”

While the long-awaited D’Angelo album James River still doesn’t have a release date , Ronson added, “I know he’s been working nonstop.” In the meantime, fans can pick up a copy of Ronson’s Record Collection, which will be released on September 27th.
