Dear Dairy My First Date with Charles
_________________________________________________________

Charles voice was deep like Barry White—-the bass in his voice was extra sexy. I didn’t notice from our conversation that his voice was that deep. “I didn’t quite catch your name” I asked him.

“Charles Ford.”

“Umm Mr. Ford I don’t have a lot of time to spare so tell me what’s on your mind.” I was running behind for a business meeting and I didn’t have the time to sit and hold the phone.

“You’re very feisty what’s your name again?”

“I was wondering when you were going to ask me? My name is Chloe Makiy Stevenson.”

“That’s a pretty name for a pretty girl,”

“Listen Charles I’m a very busy woman and I don’t have time to chit chat if you got a point make it.”

Charles paused at first probably looking at the phone like bitch please, it didn’t matter to me, I control everything in my life and it will always be that way. “Well I wanted to know if you can come out to dinner tonight.”

“Fine, I’ll text you my address and be on time I don’t wait for anyone you got me? Pick me up by seven.”

“Fine” he said smartly but that was okay with me because I liked for my men to obey me.

                                               ******************

I met Charles two building down from my condo building-I mean at the end of the day I don’t know if this man is loony. I didn’t feel like wasting my gas so this was the best option, Charles was the finest light bright I’d ever seen in my life. His white Polo shirt showed his muscle I swear he was cut up harder than The Rock and I love The Rock. He exited out of his CLS63 AMG I was kind of impressed, not a lot of people are pushing that car. He had red roses for me and box of chocolates; I made sure I was looking ten better than earlier. The restaurant we were going to was causal so I put on my ripped Ronny Kobo jeans with my Christian Louboutin pumps and a wife beater. I really don’t need make up so I put on some eye shadow to make my hazel eyes stand out and some MAC glass.

“You look gorgeous” he said.
“Thank you,” I replied taking my flowers and getting into Charles ride. His car still had that new car smell, I hate that smell; when he got in he looked at me. I hate when men stare at me, even though I thank my mother and father for my good looks. I’m so much more than a pretty face and a banging body. Sometimes guys can get so wrapped up into how a women looks he could careless if she has brains are not. “Why are you staring at me? I hate it when people stare at me.”

“Why are you so nasty?”

“Excuse me?”

“Your attitude is nasty.”

“First off, I don’t have a nasty attitude. Just because I don’t like men staring at me like I’m a piece of meat, doesn’t mean I have a bad attitude? If so Charles than let me have one! And you don’t need to take a woman out to dinner that has a nasty attitude do you?” I opened up his car door, I don’t need him, I hate that men always do this it’s sicken. I had to fight all my life. To all the girls I was never black enough because my mother’s Italian and I didn’t look like them. To all the guys I’m always a trophy girl I’m tired of it, some days I just wish I was ugly. Well not ugly that’s a little too far fetch but it frustrates me because I’m so much more than my light skin and big ass.

“You know Charles I don’t even talk to light skin guys but I figured I give you a chance. I gradated high school at sixteen and I was finished with my master at twenty-two. I’m the youngest execute in my office-I deal with bull shit all day from white men looking at me like a piece of meat. I’m tired of it, no matter how hard I try to show I’m more than my looks it doesn’t matter. You have a nice evening.” I yelled as I walked off.

“Chloe” Charles said as he ran after me.

I started not to stop, but I did have my mind set on eating me some crab legs. “What.”

“Listen we got off on the wrong foot, I’m sorry you are beautiful and I had no idea that it bother you, I promise I won’t do it anymore. Just come back and get into the car and since I started all this trouble I’ll even pay for dinner.”

“What” I said as I bucked my eyes at him, he was on something strong if he thought I was tricking on a meal.

He busted out laughing “I was just joking you should have seen the look on your face.”

“I was about to go up stairs for real.”

Once we made it to the restaurant it was just as nice as my girlfriend described to me, very trendy. Charles had reservations for us a table on the outside deck, so we could enjoy the weather. Charles pulled my chair out for me which I was use to, my dad always showed me how I should be treated by a man.

“This is a nice spot” I advised him “My friend from work told me about this spot.”

“So you have family here.”

“Yes my grandmother lives here; I got a great job offer so I said why not.”

“Where is your home?”

“The Big Apple.”

“What Part?”

“I grew up in Harlem.”

“Okay, so I see you’re smart woman finishing college so soon, why are you single?”

“Well Charles I’m only twenty-four, I haven’t found anybody worth my while to settle down.”

“And now you met me.” I smiled at him he was a charmer but I don’t know about anything serious I’m really focus on my career.

“Tell me about yourself?” I asked him.

“Well, I’m twenty-six single, I own my own construction company I’m actually contracted with the city. I did get through my four years of college but that was it for me. I don’t have any kids, I was born and raised here in San Francisco and I like you.”

“You like me, you don’t even know me. A man with your looks and driving a ninety thousand dollar car, I don’t believe for one second you don’t have a woman or some freaks.”

He smiled at me “Freaks, is that what y’all call them in New York?”

“Yes.”

“I mean I have some buddies but nothing serious.”

I could care less about any women friends he had as long as he was single he was fair game and I always win.

After dinner Charles took me for a walk along the beach and it was very romantic I was happy I decided to go out with him. He was very charming and I actually loved that we could talk about anything from sports to politics. I didn’t want him to know I was feeling him like I was so I played it off when he dropped me off at home.

“Well I enjoyed my time with you, I’m really digging you.” He said.

I just smiled at him, “Oh thanks well it was a nice.” I opened the door quickly; I’d be damn if I was asking him out. I got to much pride for that.

“You just gone get out like that no goodbye, no hug or kiss? No let’s do this again?”

“A kiss, I don’t know if them lips been on any parts of your buddies today?”

“Oh man you gone play me, a’ight. Can I at least get a hug and a second date?”

I reached over and gave him a hug getting a whiff of his Kenneth Cole Black it smelled so good on him. “Okay you can come over my house on Thursday and I will cook dinner.”

“You can cook?”

“I told you I was more than a pretty face, didn’t I.”

I waved by to him I was looking forward to out next date I liked Charles.

I met Charles when I was twenty-four; I’d just gotten my Master degree in finance and took a job offer at one of the biggest accounting firm in San Francisco. Normally I wouldn’t have eyes for a light skinned brother but Charles was fine with a capitol F. I even think he turned me on more when he passed me up without looking my way. I’ve always loved a challenge it’s something about me competing for something that gets me going. It’s the sole reason I finished high school at sixteen because I wanted to beat out everybody else. Even though Charles passed me by I saw him look out the corners of his eyes. A woman like me is not easily missed. I played along with him, I liked paying games. As I kept it moving he turned around and asked me if I knew which way 5th street was.

I looked at him and smiled than replied “I’m new in town.” I could immediately tell he admired my Jill Scott smile. His eyes searched my five foot seven inch frame from top to bottom. After I felt he got a good enough look I turned and walked away. I always win, and I always get what I want!

“Excuse me Miss” he yelled trying to catch up with me. At that point I knew I had him where I wanted him, men rarely passed up a big but and a smile.

“Yes?”

“Well if you’re new in town if you don’t mind, I can show you around.”
