After giving a stellar performance of his single Fancy at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards,Toronto rapper Drake isn’t experiencing the same luck [...]

After giving a stellar performance of his single Fancy at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards,Toronto rapper Drake isn’t experiencing the same luck with the video for the song. Although the video is completed, Drake is still unsure whether or not to release it.

In a recent interview with MTV News, Drizzle explained more about his dillema, saying, “We shot Fancy, and to be honest with you, it was done and I watched it and I just had a way better idea. That’s why the video hasn’t come out yet. And to follow up Find Your Lov‘ and Miss Me, I really wanted to do something different, conceptually, and so I had this amazing idea and now I’m debating whether I should re-shoot it or go straight to Show Me A Good Time. But there should be a new Drake visual in the next little bit.”

With a minor backlash from his debut video Best I Ever Had, which was visually directed by Kanye West, it’s important for the rapper to maintain the success he’s seen with his more recent videos for Over, Find Your Love, and Miss Me, all directed by Anthony Mandler.

Drake is still unclear on whether he wants to re-shoot the video for Fancy or move on to his next single Show Me A Good Time but according to MTV News, the decision will be made sometime next week. The rapper is enthusiastic regardless of which project he decides to pursue, stating, “It’s something to look forward to, I’m excited by it”.

As for what’s next on Drake’s plate, the rapper will appear inRick Ross’ video for Aston Martin Music.

Two promoters are being sued by an entertainment company after they failed to make good on their promises. 80’s Baby [...]

Two promoters are being sued by an entertainment company after they failed to make good on their promises. 80’s Baby Entertainment say they paid Carlos Goodspeed and Jason “DJ J Rudd” Rudd a deposit with the understanding that they could secure rapper Drake and several other artists for two separate concerts but the two never delivered the superstar and then failed to return the deposit.

According to the lawsuit, which was filed on Monday (September 13), 80’s Baby first contacted Goodspeed back in March 2009. The company forked over $27,500 to bookCiara, Plies, Soulja Boy, and Webbie for a Summer Jamconcert but was told later that Ciara had to back out. Goodspeed allegedly promised to return the deposit to the company once the R&B singer’s label refunded the money, however 80’s Baby never saw a dime.

The issue became bigger in July 2009, when the company decided they wanted to book singer Jamie Foxx through another promoter. They needed the deposit they paid Goodspeed for the new concert but still couldn’t retrieve the funds so they weren’t able to seal the deal.

The complaint, then fast forwards to December, when the company started working with a third party and this time they linked up with Rudd in the hopes of booking Drake. They paid a $20,000 fee and in the claim state that contract says that if the Young Money MC was a no-show, their deposit would be returned.

What they didn’t know though at the time was that Rudd and Goodspeed were linked and the money they gave to Rudd actually went into an account that Goodspeed controlled. Again they were misled and they have yet to see either of their deposits.

80’s Baby is accusing the two promoters of fraud, breach of contract, negligent misrepresentation and theft of service and is seeking to recoup $50,000 and an undisclosed amount in damages.

October’s very own may now become December’s very best, with rapper Drake pushing the completion of his latest mixtape,It’s Never Enough, [...]

October’s very own may now become December’s very best, with rapper Drake pushing the completion of his latest mixtape,It’s Never Enough, to around December. Unsure of the actual release month, the Canadian-born rapper told MTV, “I’m hoping for Christmas time. I’d really love to get it out for Christmas time. Next month, I’ll be on tour. I’m gonna really get to put the finishing touches on it in November and December. Because it’s a mixtape, I don’t have to wait for the production of it.”

With nods from his crew and label mates, Drake’s new mixtape will consist of songs that have never been heard from the Young Money artist. Much of Drake’s material has been available through multiple Internet facets over the last year, including his first mixtape So Far Gone, which was available at no cost prior to his major popularity boost.

Drake ensures fans will be surprised with the new material on It’s Never Enough, stating, “It’s all new music…So all those are references. I had some references that were forJamie Foxx, some that were for Rita Ora from Roc Nation. All the R&B stuff that recently leaked, that’s not for the tape.”

Drake has not released many details about his upcoming mixtape with the exception of mentioning the first song on the project entitled I Get Lonely Too. While headlining his own tour dates, Drake will also be one of the attractions on the upcoming Welcome Home Weezy Concert along withYoung Money label mate Nicki Minaj on November 5.

In an interview last weekend with Atlanta’s own DJ Drama on Hot 107.9 radio station, Nicki Minajdiscussed her “marriage” toYoung Money label-mateDrake, BET’s My Mic Sounds Nice special, and the upcoming release of her debut album, Pink Friday.

Barbz and Drakettes around the world wept when Nicki and Drake announced their “marriage” via Twitter, which was “annulled” nearly one day later, two weeks ago.

Minaj told DJ Drama that Drake is like her little brother, “We were just being mischievous…I wanted to give the blogs a little payback.” She went on to say, “I think boys are yucky”; a statement that will surely have gossip sites buzzing about her sexuality.

Being the focus of many online best female in Hip-Hop debates, Minaj was also very verbal about the premiere of BET’s special My Mic Sounds Nice in which female rappers of the past and present discussed the importance of females in the male dominant rap world. Although Minaj was not one of the females interviewed her presence in Hip-Hop was discussed. Lady of Rage described her as Missy, Kim, andEve combined while underground rapper Tiye Pheonixcondemned the rapper stating, “Females, like myself, we in the underground paying dues. We committed.” To that Minajtold Drama, “People almost forget that you were an underground struggling artist at one time…Boo, I grinded for the last 7 years of my life and I’m not gonna feel guilty for anything I’m getting right now”.

Overall, Minaj is excited about her debut album, Pink Friday, releasing November 23 and the praise she’s received on her verse of Kanye West’s song Monster, “I just been blessed with being on a song with 2 living legends…I’m happy that people think I murdered the record”.

During a recent UStream session with fans, Drake revealed plans for him to go on tour next month with other hip-hop acts and talked about a Welcome Home Weezy concert that would take place shortly after the New Orleans MC was released from prison.

According to the Young Moneyrapper, he will go out on tour with The Clipse, Bun B, and hopefully Wiz Khalifa in the near future. Wiz is the only act not confirmed but Drake sent out a plea to the Pittsburgh MC during the online stream and asked him to join him on the trek.

“Hopefully, the Light Dreams [and] Nightmares Tour, depending on what city we go to, it’ll be Clipse, Bun B, andWiz Khalifa. That’s what I’m hoping. I don’t know, maybe I spoke too soon,” said Drake.

“If Wiz by any chance watches this, you gotta make some calls for me and make this happen. We got that young energy right now, we need to go out there and kill these people.”

As for the welcome home concert for Lil Wayne, Drakerevealed the date but the not place and urged fans to be in attendance.

“November 5, the Welcome Home Weezy concert,” he added. “That’s gonna be crazy.”

Today Forbes’ List announced theHip-Hop Cash Kings of 2010, as most could probably guess, Jay-Z headed the list, having earned $63 million this year making him number one by more than double any of his competitors. Jay falls into the 35% tax bracket meaning that his line from 2006’s Oh My God, “What you call money/ I pay in taxes,” has pretty much come true as he will end up paying approx $22 million in taxes this year; more than the total earnings of any other rapper aside from Diddy, who takes second place with $33 million.

Surprisingly the average earnings of the Top 20 comes to $15 million, which is approximately the same as last year, despite the current state of the economy.

Since his incident at the VMA’s and temporary disappearance from the public eye, Kanye West has earned only $12 million this year, in comparison to the $25 million he earned last year, with the anticipation surrounding his new album however, he is expected to climb the list considerably next year.

I see you Drake… Get that money!

The Top 15 is as follows:

1. Jay-Z – $63m

2. Diddy – $30m

3. Akon – $21m

4. Lil Wayne – $20m

5. Dr. Dre – $17m

6. Ludacris – $16m

7. Snoop Dogg – $15m

8. Timbaland – $14m

9. Pharrell Williams – $13m

10. Kanye West – $12m

11. Drake – $10m

12. T.I. – $9m

12 Swizz Beatz – $9m

During the OVO Festival inToronto, Drake announced plans to release an R&B mixtape soon. He is working on the project to show his appreciation to his fans who supported his debut album and led it to over 1 million in sales.

“Me and 40 working on [the mixtape],” revealed Drake. “I got you. I think I got a great body of work with that tape. I’m gonna do it like I do all my other tapes. I’m gonna make a night out of it. Just make sure you’re on the Net that night downloading, and it’s yours.”

“I feel the people deserving it. It’s hard for me to put out free rap albums these days. So the best I can do is switch genres and put something out for free. It’ll be yours very soon.”

Drizzle didn’t say if any of the songs like Fall For Your Type, which recently leaked would make the cut but fans won’t have to wait long to find out.

In related news, the Young Money MC recently scored two MTV Video Music Award nominations. One in the Best Male Video category for Find Your Love and another in the Best Hip Hop Video category for his collaboration with Kanye West,Lil Wayne, and Eminem, Forever.

Drake surprised his audience on (August 2) at the festival October’s Very Own inToronto, Canada. While performing some of his most famous hits from his debut album Thank Me Later, Drakestopped the concert to pay tribute to rappers who inspired him.

Samples of songs were played in the background as the crowd sang along, opening with Kanye West’s new hit,Power. Drake introduced his guest saying, “Give me something from my man who’s inspired me more than anybody in my motherfucking life,” and Jay-Z’s voice was heard, “Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is Hov!” followed by Run This Town that Jay stepped on stage to sing.

Bun B and Eminem were also welcomed on stage by theYoung Money emcee, who introduced the UGK rapper with, “I want to bring somebody to the stage. I want to pay homage to a legendary rap group, a dude that came out here to perform for y’all. I want y’all to make some motherfucking noise for the legendary Bun B one time.”

The crowd went crazy when Drake performed his songForever, from the LeBron James documentary, More Than A Game. Other guests included Rick Ross, Young Jeezy,Kardinal Offishall and Fabolous.

On July 16th, while performing inOttawa, Canada, Drake decided to bring a fan upstage (watch video below). The Young MoneyMC made sure she was at least 18 and then started to hug her. The lucky girl, who could not believe to what was happening to her, let the rapper kiss her repetitively. However, as things were heating up, Drake turns around and walks away from her, leaving the girl on stage desperate.

Drake is not new to bringing fans on stage, dancing with them and kissing them. In April, while he was performing inNashville, Tennessee, a similar event occurred.

On related topics, Drake has expressed his will to dusting off his acting career. The Young Money rapper was actually a child star in Degrassi: The Next Generation and he would like to play Barack Obama in case a biopic movie of the President comes out.

“I hope somebody makes a movie about Obama’s life soon because I could play him,” Drake told Paper Magazine. “That’s the goal… Anytime I see him on TV, I don’t change the channel, I definitely pay attention and listen to the inflections of his voice.”

Drake’s debut album, Thank Me Later, is still hitting the top charts. The album is #2 on Billboard’s Top 200, afterEminem’s Recovery.

Drake On Negativity & Overexposure

During a recent interview, Canadian rapper Drake revealed that he has had to refrain from looking at online blogs because he can’t handle the negative comments that people send his way. If a single person out of the many who heap praise on him says something unflattering the Young Money MC says that he fixates on that one person’s statement.

“I have a problem where if I go read a hundred positive things about me and there’s one guy in there who says, ‘I hate Drake’ that’s the one I pay attention to,” admittingDrake while talking to Paper Magazine. “I think that’s a common problem. Negativity hurts us more than positivity helps us. “

Drizzle also said that he isn’t worried about overexposure because he doesn’t appear in every piece of media that lands online and he is constantly turning down offers.

“Overexposure would be me in every single video, me on Twitter every single day, me…having my hand in all these pots because I feel I’m hot. That’s overexposure. Overexposure isn’t when people love you too much and are excited. I hate when people confuse the two. I actually say no way more than I say yes to opportunities are presented to me.”

Drake released his debut album, Thank Me Later, earlier this year and the LP sold 450,000 copies in its first week. He is reportedly already hard at work on his sophomore effort, which is tentatively titled Moments.
