Speculations as to why Rihanna didn’t show up to her best gal pal Katy Perry’s wedding recently suggested that it was a result of some argument she had with her boyfriend, Matt Kemp. But according to the singer, she was forced to miss the wedding to prep for the upcoming release of her album, Loud.

“The album is coming out in two weeks, and I had to be available for a lot of approvals [and check] emails and stuff. We couldn’t get any phone service or Internet service out there. It was scary,” said Rihanna during an interview with Extra.

“It would have been a little irresponsible [to go without Internet or phone service], but she understood, and I was glad that I could at least throw her bachelorette party and be involved somehow…I was crushed. I was really looking forward to it, but she understood.”

As far as any extra details and how the event went, Rihanna said that she only knows what the media has reported because she still hasn’t gotten a chance to talk to Katy.

“[I know] only what you guys have been posting all the time. Like, ‘Oh, she got henna on her feet and hands the night before.’ I was like, ‘That’s cool,’” she said.

Loud, RiRi’s fifth studio album will be released on November 10 via Def Jam Records.  The lead single on the project, Only Girl (In The World), currently rests at the number three spot on Billboard’s Hot 100.

“S&M” - It’s definitely a club banger and the naughtiest song of all! Here are some of the sample lyrics as best I heard them: “I may be bad but I’m perfectly good… There’s sex in the air. I don’t care, I love the smell of it… Sticks and stones may break my bones but chains and whips excite me. I like it, come on, come on.”

“Only Girl (In The World)”: The whole room was dancing along! During the lyrics “hold me like a pillow,” L.A. hugged himself like a pillow, too. Funny moment!

“What’s My Name?” – It’s the second single off of Loud – listen to a bit of the track here! “Oh nah nah, what’s my name? …Hey boy, I really wanna see if you can go downtown with a girl like me. Oh boy, I wanna really be with you, you’re just my type… You’re so amazing, you took the time to figure me out..”

“Cheers” – The song samples Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You” and is so unbelievably catchy! Avril’s “yeahh, yeahh, yeahhh, yeahhh” are prevalent throughout. This song will be so huge in clubs, bars, and everywhere that serves alcohol. Everybody will be raising a glass! Sample lyrics: “Turn it around with a dollar round, there’s a party at the bar everybody put your glasses up… Cheers to the freakin weekend, I drink to that. Everybody put your glasses up. Don’t let the bastards get you down… Drinks on my mind and my mind on my money.”

“California King (Bed)” – A beautiful ballad! Lyrics include: “nose to nose, palm to palm, wrist to wrist, toe to toe…Feels like more than distance between us. In this California king bed, we’re 10,000 miles apart. I’ll be California wishing on the stars, my California king.” It’s L.A.’s favorite song off the album!

“Raining Men” - The fast and uptempo song features Nicki Minaj! There isn’t much of a chorus, but the song features a variation of the popular children’s phrase “eenie meenie miney mo”.

“Fading Away” - A beautiful ballad that likely references her relationship with Chris Brown. The song includes the lines, “Ready for change, baby, Open up my eyes and finally realize you’re fading away. Too late… Running your mouth. So fed up, don’t press your luck today. What’s a girl to do when she’s crying inside?”

“Man Down” - The song starts off with sirens and sounds like a metaphor for deadening a relationship. Lyrics include: “I pulled out my gun… Ra pum pum pum pum. Oh mama, mama, mama, I just shot a man down in central station. Never thought I’d do it. Whatever ever happened to me. Why did I pull the trigger. What am I gonna do?”

Rihanna is certainly keeping busy these days.  Within the last three weeks, she shot a movie and two music videos – the most recent being for reported new Urban single ‘What’s My Name’.

No sooner had world-class megastar Rihanna wrapped up the final show of her sold-outLast Girl On Earth Tour inChicago last week, than she turned her attention to her brand new fifth studio album on Def Jam Recordings. LOUD, set to arrive on November 16th, has been described by insiders as a return to the up-tempo dance grooves of her earlier records.

Setting the scene for LOUD is the first lead single, Only Girl (In the World). The up-tempo  track is produced byStargate, the Norwegian team whose career has been intertwined with Rihanna (and her fellow Def Jam hitmakerNe-Yo) since 2006, including Unfaithful, Don’t Stop The Music, Hate That I Love You (featuring Ne-Yo), Take A Bow, and her most recent #1 global smash, Rude Boy.

Prior to Rude Boy, 2009’s Russian Roulette also made chart history for Rihanna — as her 12th Billboard Hot 100 career hit, placing her second (after Beyonce) among female Hot 100 artists in the decade since 2000. After Rude Boy, RiRiwas back on the charts as featured artist on Eminem’s Love The Way You Lie, which hit #1 on the Pop Songs Radio Airplay chart, and tied Rihanna for the most #1’s (six) on the chart, with Mariah Carey, Beyonce and Lady Gaga.

Perez Hilton corroborates earlier reports that the as-yet-untitled album boasts a “more dancey and upbeat” sound, in comparison to last year’s ‘Rated R’. A moderate hit (at best), the ‘darker’ themed LP failed to catch on with consumers – this despite a major promotional push and public favour following ‘the incident’.

Rihanna Declares Release Date For Lead-Off Single “Only Girl”, the release date for Rihanna’s new single “Only Girl” has just been announced, and it looks like the tune is is slated to premiere on U.K. radio stations on August 31. Her next album that will feature the new song “Only Girl” is scheduled to come out sometime later this year or early 2011. Sources out of the U.K. say that RiRi’s fifth album is more upbeat and dance-oriented than her last album.

Last week, Eminem released his second single from his new album Recovery. The song is titled Love The Way You Lie and it features superstar Rihanna.

The lyrics are causing debates among critics and fans, who perceive that the message the song spreads is that of encouraging domestic violence. Given the abusive relationship background of both singers,Eminem with ex-wife Kim and Rihanna with ex-boyfriendChris Brown, the controversy over their new single is getting more enflamed.

The video clip of Love The Way You Lie is also topic of discussions. Starring Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan, the music video shows a couple who fights violently and then reunite, only to fight even more brutally afterwards, while the house goes on fire.

Brooke Anderson, anchorwoman of CNN’s Showbiz Tonight, asserted that: “I think that this video is a powerful statement and gets people’s attention that gives the issue of domestic violence the attention that it deserves. Although I feel that she [Rihanna] is drawing from her personal experience, some people may not agree with me.”

However, in spite of critics and arguments moved against it, the single hit number one on the top charts and it also broke YouTube record, receiving 6.6 million view in just 24 hours.

Rihanna certainly leaves a mark on the lives of the men she deals with, but that may not necessarily be a good thing. She played Drake, then there was the infamous incident with Chris Brown. Now, reports are saying that the Good Girl Gone Bad singer is causing her current boyfriend, L.A. Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp, to not perform on the field as he was previously.

According to recent reports, Matt Kemp has been under-performing ever since his love life with Rihanna has been heating up. He has hit 1 homerun in the last 22 games and has been hitting an average of .196 for the month of June, which is low compared to his performance last season.

To add insult to injury, his coach benched him for the last three games which raised some eyebrows. Some sites have gone as far as comparing Rihanna and Matt’s relationship toJessica Simpson and Tony Romo’s of the Dallas Cowboys.

While Rihanna is being said to be detrimental to Matt’scareer, other athlete’s girlfriends are considered assets to the players they date. For example, the Kardashian sisters have always been said to be good for Reggie Bush (although him and Kim are no longer together) and Los Angeles Lakers’Lamar Odom, the husband of Khloe Kardashian.
